QoS Marking @ Gate Keeper.
There is no mechanism in Gatekeepers to mark signalling to gateways.
The easiest way to mark is:
policy-map signalling
class class-default
set dscp cs3
interface X/X
service-policy output signalling



CAT 4500 BOOTVAR with IOS
To tell 4500 which image to boot use
(config)#boot system flash bootflash:image_name command
without "bootflash:" after the command, the image will not boot
The changes won't be visible until config is written to NVRAM


DSCP TX-QUEUE map table in 6506 displays which DSCPs are mapped to which TX queues.
Most FE cards cannot support "bandwidth" command.

CAT 4500 SUP V
The higher SUPs require more power. The word is that Sup 5 requires 170Watts and Sup 4 requires 110Watts. Be carefull when upgrading, since power supply can be a limiting factor.

CAT 4500 IPX
CAT 4500 L3 IPX Switching is done in software! Use #show platform cpu packet driver command and watch for L2 FWD counters. If they rise with IPX traffic, all packets are processed by CPU and considerably slowed down.
